“The
increasingly multicultural nature of many societies, as
well as the increasing contact and interaction between
societies with very different cultural traditions, is
raising profound issues. This course aims to provide you
with an understanding of how basic psychological processes
may vary across cultures, and to give you the skills necessary
to conduct your own research with different ethnic groups
and in different cultures. The programme is specifically
aimed at those who intend to pursue their psychological
work in a number of different cultural settings, whether
within Britain or overseas.
You will take core and optional modules focusing on cross-cultural
psychology and research methods leading to dissertation.
The optional modules are designed to reflect the different
methodologies and theoretical approaches employed across
human sciences especially in relations to cross-cultural
research in social anthropology.
