Content

"This new, hybrid course draws on the disciplines of Sport Sciences and Product Design. It is a practical, project-based course developed to fuse biological and physiological understanding with design skills and knowledge. Core course material ranges from ergonomics to materials, physiology to communication, marketing to model-making and manufacturing. You will make practical use of well equipped workshiops throughout the course, progressing at Levels 2 and 3, to using rapid prototyping facilities.

Project areas will include traditional sports, extreme and endurance, protective equipment, measuring testing and training, simulation and interface products and medical and rehabilitation equipment.

Our Design graduates are highly sought-after in a wide range of environments and we have close working relationships with many prestigious companies across Europe and beyond. Recent employers of our graduates include Accenture, Apple Computer, British Telecom, EuroStar, Fitch, IDEO, Seymour Powell, IBM, Habitat, Land rover, Lego Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, Nokia and Virgin Atlantic,

Assessment
A combination of written and multiple choice exams, lab reports, coursework, design projects, oral presentations and practical work.

Accreditation
It is anticipated that graduates will be eligible for Diploma membership of the Chartered Society of Designers, and that the course will also be accredited by the Institution of Engineering Designers.
