"The
digitisation of video and audio has spawned a diverse
range of technologies such as digital TV, personal video
recorders, media streaming, video-on-demand, interactive
television, DVD, MPEG and MP3, DVB, XML, Java, and so
on. This course aims to undertake a broad and deep state-of-the-art
exploration of the area that will:
• Critically explore the technological conceptual foundations
of multimedia information systems;
• Practically examine multimedia information systems development
and management;
• Critically investigate 'cutting edge' multimedia technologies
and techniques.
Students who successfully complete the programme will
have the specialist knowledge and skills required for
the design, development, implementation, evaluation and
management of multimedia information systems, and be able
to work with multimedia technologies in both commercial
and research contexts.
