Brunel
University is named after one of the greatest engineers
of the Industrial Revolution in the United Kingdom. Many
of his works challenged and inspired others. Some of them
survived to our times and are still in use, like the Great
Western Railway connecting London and Bristol.
The University was created 41 years ago and since its beginnings
it was known for excellence in teaching and research. In
2006 the University celebrated its 40th anniversary and
200 years since the birth of the Great Engineer. Her Majesty,
Queen Elizabeth 2nd, granted a visit to the University to
commemorate the two events.
Brunel
University offers its students the best of both worlds:
a modern campus closest to your home thanks to its proximity
to Heathrow Airport and at the same time easy access to
the center of London with its attractions. Students study
and live on a vibrant campus based in Uxbridge, West London,
which is well linked with the center of the UK capital by
underground and buses.
In the last few years the university invested 250 million
pounds (500 million dollars) in the redevelopment of the
campus, and as a result students can benefit from refurbished
teaching and academic facilities, state of the art world-class
sport and fitness facilities and one of the best in London
accommodation options. The Library, cafeteria, Arts Centre
and campus shops are all within 10 minute’s walk from
each other.
