The
following information was taken directly from the University
of Glamorgan's printed undergraduate prospectus.
"This
course covers the four main themes of financial reporting,
management accounting, financial management and computerised
accounting systems. It will give you the maximum exemptions
possible from ACCA (the Association of Chartered
Certified Accountants) professional examinations and some
exemptions from the professional examinations of other
accounting bodies. You will gain a broad business background
in the first year, then your focus switches towards the
varied aspects of accounting in Years Two and Three. This
course covers the spectrum of accounting, so you can progress
to a number of specialist careers within the profession.
Course Content:
Year One:
Modules will include topics such as financial accounting,
management accounting and the application of appropriate
IT, quantitative and research skills, the accountant in
business, the economic environment, personal financial
planning, ethics, corporate governance and business law.
Year Two:
You will study areas such as financial reporting, performance
management, performance control, computerised accounting,
auditing systems, auditing and assurance, finance and
taxation,
Year Three:
This year covers advanced financial reporting and strategic
performance management,. You can also choose three options
from a range of topics, including accounting research
methods, global governance, risk and ethics, advanced
management accounting, cases in auditing business modelling,
Uk Tax planning and international taxation. This means
you can specialise in specific aspects of accounting."
