“Explore
the place of humans in the biological world with this
challenging programme, which examines the human species
with a focus on evolution, disease, genetics and adaptation
to diverse environments. Humans' place in the primate
order is explored in the context of our species' cultural
evolution.

First Year
You are introduced to evolutionary theory and genetics,
human health and disease patterns, and to cultural evolution.
Other core modules focus on biological anthropology, human
evolution and primate biology.
Second Year
Core modules in the second year address the origins of
civilisations, palaeoanthropology, and population, health
and disease. You can also choose from optional modules
in nutrition, genetics, physiology, neurobiology and a
field course.
Third Year
In the final year, core modules focus on topics such as
animal cognition, behavioural ecology, and primatology.
Advanced level optional modules are offered in environmental
physiology, animal conservation, human physiology and
neurobiological aspects of behaviour. You are taught theory
and practice in biological anthropology and carry out
research in an area of your choice, which may account
for 25% of the final year.
Special Features
Roehampton is well equipped with laboratories and IT suites
as well as specialist behavioural observation equipment
such as Geographic Information Systems. We have developed
strong links with zoos, including London Zoo, and museums
for visits and research projects. ”
