“This
pioneering programme combines the study of human functioning
and development in psychology and counselling. It combines
the theoretical foundations of both counselling models
and psychology and offers experiential group work. This
programme provides the basis for careers in psychology
and other helping professions.

First year
Core modules in the first year introduce psychology, research
methods and interpersonal skills theory and practice.
You also learn the foundations of psychology and research
methods with other first-year psychology students and
spend one day per week on interpersonal skills training,
which involves counselling skills work and experiential
group work.
Second
year
In the second year you get a deeper understanding of developmental,
social and abnormal psychology as well as an evaluative
perspective of the different counselling modules. There
is also experiential work in the Reflective Practice module.
Third
year
In the final year of the programme you carry out a research
project and study cognitive and neurological psychology
as well as explore Psychological Assessment for Counselling
and how the processes of counselling are managed.
